		<title>Opening Night! ( Testing )</title>

		<description><![CDATA[We will be starting the preliminary play on Monday January 23rd at 9pm EST. Backgrounds aren't required, but are appreciated. You can send them to VEMailroom@aim.com before 5pm EST on Monday, I'll have them approved by 5:30 or 6pm. You can then make your character sheet if you wish and send it in before 8pm EST and I should have them all approved by playtime or shortly after. Anyone wishing to show is welcome to come and play. We will be playing for two weeks to test out various rules changes and then hopefully we can officially open two weeks from Monday February 6th.<br /><br />We will probably only be playing for limited times, probably from 9pm - Midnight on Monday and Tuesdays unless this clashes with people schedules. If it does, just let me know and we will try to work out a better time for play. Of course, for those wishing to play during other times, you are more than welcome to, these will be the only official hours for ST rolls and Hosts.<br /><br />During the two week test I will be awarding 250 XP per hour of play to buy skills and masteries, but once the game opens officially you will return to your original approved generation character sheet. No carry overs will be allowed.<br /><br />The setting: For opening night the setting will be the Grand Re-Opening of the Athenaeum, a semi private Coffee House located on the corner of Pall Mall and Waterloo Place just down the road from Trafalgar Square. The previous Owner sold it to a young man by the name of Jean Paul Villard, a lesser Noble who had recently inherited his fathers fortune after his father and brother died in an unusual hunting accident.<br /><br />Tonights Opening event went off wonderfully.  The evening was filled with a great deal of interaction and lotsof great RP.  Though some things still need getting used to, overall I would say it is a great success!  Thank you everyone who participated to help make this a reality.<br /><br />The XP awards for the night are below.  If you do not have an approved Character Sheet and still played, you can still claim the rewards to be spent as XP after you get an approved CS. 		<title>Public Opening Night</title>

		<description><![CDATA[We will be opening publicly at 9pm EST on Monday February 6th.  For those who have been following our progress, we began preliminary testing a week ago and have put the new rules to the test and they have proven pretty sturdy.  <br /><br />Through testing, the initial characters were given 250 XP per hour of play in order to test out differences in the sheets, since we were going for only two weeks of testing.  Though no character will be carrying any of this XP into the public opening, I will be awarding small rewards to those who participated in the testing phase.<br /><br />For those who are new, allow me to explain a few things that may not be known, this could impact your interest in playing, though we hope it doesn't.<br /><br />1) This game is open to everyone, from both Black Bayou's, Crossroads, and new players that may find interest.  If you have a problem with someone from another game, do not bring that trouble here.<br /><br />2) The rules have changed to accomodate balance and the general feel for the Era.  Please be sure to look over the website and the rules to familiarize yourself, there are a LOT of changes.  The rules are based off of the Black Bayou structure, however expect some pretty significant differences, and most if not all of these changes are permanent and will not be reverted back to old Black Bayou Standards. <br /><br />3) We will have common GWSLs as well as SLs based on character backgrounds, so if you have something in your background that can bite you in the backside, it probably will.  GWSLs won't be GM'd on a nightly basis, but things will happen and they are not to be ignored because you don't like the GWSL.<br /><br />4) There will be NPC's that could cause problems for people.  Letting the world know you are a supernatural at this time and flaunting power isn't a good idea, continued attention drawn to yourself will have repercussions.  We strongly believe in paying the consequences for you actions here.  It is likely for publicly known supernaturals to be killed by hunters, church fanatics, or just to be carted off to an asylum ala poor Renfield <img src="http://velvetskies.net/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /><br /><br />5) Any breeds that are common to Black Bayou are being completely re-written, and two of them will never be open to Generation due to story elements and happenings in the game.  None of the breeds other than mortals will be known in the beginning, the breeds will be introduced publicly as the characters learn about them through play.  However rest assured that we are going to do our very best to stick to the mythology and folk lore for these breeds and none will get more or less attention than any other.  Each breed will have it's strengths and weaknesses but all will be kept as fair as possible.<br /><br />My intention isn't to drive anyone away, however these are principles and ideas that we as staff hold to pretty strongly and they are not likely to change, this is simply a heads up so you know before jumping in and to prevent anyone having hurt feelings later on.]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[For any of you who were not playtesters, and get your characters background and character sheet submitted by Monday at Noon EST, I will be rewarding 25 XP to begin play with.  Just a small bonus to all those who are motivated enough to get it all done before opening night.<br /><br />For those non-playtesters who already have your Character Sheet and Background submitted and approved, you will also be able to claim that bonus XP on your sheet.<br /><br />One time chance to get a full weeks XP head start on everyone else.]]></description>

		<title>New Site</title>

		<description><![CDATA[We've changed the site to one more secure and with a lot less troubles/bugs.<br /><br />There will be a few hitches, there is a problem with the old size bbcode tag, so anywhere it's used you will have to go and fix it, this includes signatures and previous posts.<br /><br />The rulebook will take me a few days to reformat, but other than that, there should be a lot less problems here.  Some of the features that we now have are:<br /><br />1) Full blown blogging system.<br />2) Downloads area for Room Logs<br />3) Photo Gallery (may be removed, unless it's really wanted)<br />4) Breed Leader System.  Once you become a Breed Leader you will be able to create your family/pack/group/ or whatever.  This will let you upload a graphic for a family crest, or group symbol, as well as create yourself a forum in the Supernatural Circles area.<br />5) When posting there is Spellchecker! ( I need it more than anyone else )<br />6) The ability to collapse blocks and forums.<br />7) Subforums should we decided to use them.<br />8) File attachments on your posts. ( Some folders have this ability removed )<br />9) You can specify when a Topic will open and close for discussions.<br />10) Stickied threads are seperated from normal topics.<br />11) Post Icons, little pics that you can use to signify your topics visually.<br />12) Topic Descriptions, give a summary of your topic.<br />13) The ability to not only have an avatar, but also a personal picture on your Profile.<br />14) Users can have spaces in their usernames now.<br />15) Users can have Display Names (names that show instead of your username) but they cannot be identical to other display names or usernames.<br /><br />That's all I can think of off the top of my head, I'm sure there are plenty more features that I am too tired to think of.  If you have any troubles, please let me know.]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[Lots of rules will be added, changed, or removed over the next few months.  As staff we understand that things can and will happen that could upset the concept or the sheet for your character.  I'd like to remind you all that we are only on our second week of being publicly open, so bear with us as we work hard to make this the best game that we can for you.  If there is something that is changed that causes difficulty with your character, come to us, we are more than happy to work with you, even if it means rebuilding your sheet from scratch to accomodate these changes. <br /> <br />I don't personally know the intricacies and details of each character, so when I'm adding and altering the rules for the good of the game as a whole, please take that into consideration.  The goal here is to grow better together by providing the most stable, balanced, and fun foundation that we can. <br /> <br />That will be all for now, keep an eye out for new changes, they are certainly coming.<br /><br />(( Additional Note.  Please review the Character Improvement page carefully and make sure that you understand the changes to the rules and what XP you can earn now. ))]]></description>

		<title>Ideas, Suggestions, Input?</title>

		<description><![CDATA[Okay, I know a few of you are out there looking to play Mad Scientists, as well as several other things.  What I would like to know is what you guys want to see in the game in the future, what you would like expanded upon, etc..  I'm always up for ideas, even if those ideas get twisted a bit to fit in the overall theme and direction I see the game going in, even if it doesn't get used at all, I still want to see what you guys want to see.  I'm going to start a thread in the OOC Discussion Folder called Ideas & Thoughts, I'd like some input from you guys.  I'm trying to make this the best game for all of us, so it's very important for me to see what you think about things, and what things you would like to see in the future.<br /><br />My Brain is running dry!]]></description>

		<title>Thematic Reality</title>

		<description><![CDATA[There has been some past troubles with some of the difficulties with this Era that we have chosen. Differences from our modern day awareness and morality that could cause problems with playing characters set in the Victorian Era. These issues, if played correctly, would most likely render the game about as fun as playing solo Checkers. <br /><br />I just want it known to all players, new and old, that as staff we do not condne racism, bigotry, intolerance, gender or sexuality based discrimination, or any type of hatred.<br /><br />The problem lies in how the society was then, and how our society is now. If you wish to play your character being more true to the beliefs of the time, that's fine, you don't have to like everyone, however the constant use of racial slurs, or other comments meant to belittle or dehumanize someone will not be tolerated.<br /><br />We can't expect everyone to like each other, what fun would the game be then? We can expect people to behave and conduct themselves in a respectful and adult manner. For the most part, we ask that you not be overly offensive, or too easily offended. This is a game to provide fun and entertainment for as many people as we can accomodate.<br /><br />Certain liberties will be taken with the Era to accomodate this, to allow women to not be battered in the street, or ethnic minorities to be abused openly. We will stick as closely as we can to the Era historically, the largest differences will be in how we will allow players to speak to one another. I can assure you, that I will not hesitate to take action against someone who is acting irresponsibly or hatefully.<br /><br />Let's all have fun here, enjoy our times, and since we aren't requiring everyone to speak with accents and thees and thou's, why is it so much of a stretch to leave race and gender bias out as well?<br /><br />Good day, play on, and have fun!<br />VEST Paradox<br /><br />]]></description>
